Baby Nursery Accessories
For your nursery to be complete and feel welcoming and cozy, you
will need to accessorize. Accessories can mean many different things
but generally, we think of nursery accessories in the following
categories:
- Nursery art and wall decor - art pieces, decals and murals
would fall into this category; these items are extremely important in
creating that extra special touch to complete the nursery theme or
color choice, to create a beautiful environment and bring in pieces
which will get your baby's attention. Wallpaper would also fall into
this category - it is a great way to accent a wall and create focal
interest.
- Lighting - both functional and decorative in nature,
lighting is extremely important in the nursery similar to other rooms
in your home. The set up of multiple light sources is important so that
you can create the atmosphere you need for different times of the day and
different uses. For example, making sure you have a night lamp is key
to provide for that subtle lighting during bed time and night feedings.
- Window treatments - curtains, drapes, shades... whatever
your choice, make sure your nursery window treatments are functional
and also safe for your child (e.g. you want to avoid hanging strings,
etc.). Select your window treatments with a view of your nursery
theme, color choice and overall nursery style in mind to achieve a
stylish and consistent look.
- Flooring / Carpets - the choice of
the floor coverings is very important - first from a functional and
then form a style perspective. Ideally, you would aim for natural
high-quality materials like cotton and wool. Choosing plush soft
carpets is always a great way to add comfort and warmth to your
nursery.
