Arabian Nights / Moroccan Style Nursery Decorating Ideas

An Arabian Nights / Moroccan style nursery theme is definitely not-your-average nursery theme idea. Inspired by the One Thousand and One Nights collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories, the theme is based on a rich and exotic style. To successfully pull off an Arabian Nights nursery theme, you need to think about bringing in elements that will re-create the overall Moroccan / Middle Eastern style:
  • Choose rich vibrant colors such as greens, reds and blues, accented by silver and gold;
  • Incorporate elements unique to the style such as lantern-style lamps, wall hanging tapestries, rich Persian carpets, mosaics and terra cotta tiles (the last are often found applied on table tops); you could incorporate mosaics as custom wall art, as well;
  • Create the look by choosing Moroccan-inspired fabrics for a few throw pillows or to upholster some of the major furniture pieces in your nursery such as the glider, for instance – thus, you will have a truly custom look;
  • Although there are not any particular characters you have to include, you could incorporate characters from famous stories as “Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp” or “The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor” in the art pieces that you choose to display

    With the above in mind, take a look at a few fabric options just for inspiration. You can find these particular fabrics and many more by visiting Fabric.com:

    The vibrant colors are what makes this Kaffe Fasset Persian Vase Lime fabric a great choice for your Arabian Nights-inspired nursery - will be great for a quilt:

    If you can not find crib bedding sets that fit the Moroccan style, consider one of two options - you could buy bedding which is a solid color that is present throughout the rest of the room (orange or lime green for example) or you could choose a suitable fabric and have your bedding custom-made / sew it yourself.

    Next, browse through some wall art pieces which could fit perfectly in your Arabian Nights / Moroccan style nursery. Also, consider incorporating any animals such as elephants, camels, etc. which would remind of the exotic far-away lands of Arabian Nights when selecting your art pieces:
