Black & White Color Nursery - Design Tips and Resources
There is something truly sophisticated in a black &
white nursery color combination. It has become popular in recent years,
however it is still taste specific so do not expect to find it in every
other nursery. There are a few things you should consider if you are
considering this color scheme.
First, you could incorporate literally almost any theme
into a
black-and-white color scheme or go theme-less. It is sleek,
sophisticated and modern. For
example, if you are a fan of the fairy theme, there are ways to create
a black
and white fairy nursery theme. Take a look the fairy graphic art below
– you
can select and frame 3 or 5 such pictures and put it on one of the
walls - possibly above the crib.
Another way is to select one favorite image and project it on the wall
in a large size
and draw it – it is a do-it-yourself project which allows you to do
something beautiful, effective and also very affordable. There are
websites which offer various free images. These images are selected
from one such site, namely Public Domain Images. The beautiful fairies clip art makes an excellent focal point in a black & white fairy nursery:
Second, the silhouette of a picture is a great element to
incorporate in any color palette but especially so in a black & white one. If you are thinking of a ballerina nursery theme, for instance, take a look at these dancer silhouettes which we have included here. They are so simple yet so beautiful and would make an excellent choice for art pieces in a black & white ballerina nursery. The frames can be either black or white and you can also have the silhouette reverse - white silhouette on a black background. Similarly, you can project one silhouette on a whole wall for a more dramatic effect. You can find such pieces in an art & craft store, an online image shop or you can order a custom one.
Third, the black & white color choice
allows you to incorporate more modern sleek design elements in your
nursery and if that happens to be the style throughout the rest of you
home, the nursery style would flow well into that. We love the look of the dark crib and the soft white drapery in the example to the left.
Of course, when it
comes to bedding, curtains and accessories, you can find beautiful
